The Kennedy Awards judges had their say on the most outstanding news, portrait and sports photography of the last year – and then it was your turn!

After visiting  the Power of the Lens Exhibition sponsored by City of Parramatta at the Riverside Theatre and browsing our gallery below the people decided The Daily Telegraph’s Gordon McComiskie  was the winner. His photo depicted the rough and tumble of life on the night beat for young police officers having to deal with ugly effects of alcohol. Congratulations Gordon.

At around 1:40am this morning an ambulance vehicle was driving down avoca rd outside Randy Wixs Nightclub and noticed a large brawl calling for police attendance. When police arrived the brawl was over but police took details of several men. Another man was pulled from the Nightclub and was aggressive to police. He then tried to run from police but was detained and arrested. Picture: Gordon McComiskie
